Angelokastro : An Attractive Byzanite Castle of the Corfu Island

The castle, which is located at a 1000 ft high steep cliff along the northwest coast of the Corfu Island and proximate to Palaiokastritsa is called as the Angelokastro. It is one of the most significant monuments of its kind and is made out of byzantine stone. As it sits at a very prominent location and lures a huge number of tourists through out the year.

Angelokastro was built in a purpose to protect the residents from external aggression of the pirates and other invaders.
